Arte Gorda is a liberation project creating space for fatness in visual art. 

Working with acrylic painting, the artist explores the fat experience in our day and age. Not shying away from the tough, the bad, and the injustice, but also making space for hope and setting the tone for a more body neutral and inclusive world. 

Working with linocut printmaking, the artist is developing a “Fat Reinterpretations” series, an exploration of what could have been and what could still be. In this process the artist revisits the past (specifically art works done after the 16th century, when fatphobia was first on the rise) and molds it to a fat positive alternative. 

Through this work, fat bodies get the chance to be romanticized, explored, and above all, seen.
